I tried to put in my location and follow the instructions above.  Unfortunately it says I can only grow 4 items outdoors right now in Southern California (two greens, garlic and shallots).  I know this is incorrect.  What am I doing wrong?

Please try to switch off the "only show in-season vegetables" control when you create a garden or add some vegetables to an existing one.

You should see way more options.

I lived in So. Ca. for years and grew things. Coast and Inland. You can grow a lot. The key is planting at the right time and planting the right variety.
